Let's Get Cooking ---Homemade Chili

Hello Bloggers,

The weather has recently changed in Mississippi.  It's starting to get a little cooler. So...what's the best dinner for cooler weather? CHILI!!!! Just so happen I cooked red beans and rice about 3 days ago.  I used the leftover beans for this chili. You can use fresh ones but it's nothing better than beans that are already seasoned. These are the directions I would've used if I didn't use leftover beans. Well, let's get right to the ingredients and instructions.

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 celery stalk, chopped
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 can kidney beans
1 1/2 cups water
1 pinch chili powder
1 pinch garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

1. In large saucepan over medium heat, combine the beef, onion and celery; sauté until meat is brown and veggies are tender. Add stewed tomatoes with juice, beans and water.

2. Season with the chili powder, garlic powder, salt and ground black pepper to taste. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover and let simmer for 15 minutes. Serve over rice or just enjoy with saltine crackers.

ENJOY!!!
