BzzAgent.com --Lysol Power and Free

I am so excited. I FINALLY received my Lysol Power and Free in the mail. I just couldn't wait to use it.

The very first thing I decided to clean was my sink. I had just cleaned and seasoned my meat for my homemade Jambalaya. Go check out the recipe. I usually clean it with Clorox Bleach spray but I decided to give the Lysol Power and Free a try. I was impressed. Although I can not physically see if it kills 99.9% viruses and bacteria, I have faith it does. 

I decided I would move on to the next project. I have a one year old that still eats in a high chair. I'm constantly second guessing myself whether cleaning his tray with Clorox Bleach wipes is doing more harm than help. I quickly took out a Lysol Power and Free wipe. No harsh smell of bleach but yet I know it is clean and disinfected. 

I had cleaned a few things here a few things there. I was so excited to clean. This doesn't happen very often. lol But I cooked and was too lazy to clean the stove top along with the rest of the kitchen. No problem! It gave me a chance to test out the spray and wipes together. The food was stuck on. I'm pretty sure it was from days prior. I sprayed the surface let it sit for 10-15 mins then I began to easily wipe the food from my stove.

The tasks I've stated above are all chores I usually perform with bleach. I didn't have to keep my kids away in fear of inhaling the strong fumes from the bleach. So far I am very much pleased with my results. I will be doing another review of the bathroom products. Please stay tuned for that review.

I decided since it was cleaning everything else so well, I would clean my son's entire high chair. I haven't cleaned this chair in about 2 weeks and the good has been stuck on for days.

It looks brand new. I'm definitely impressed with the cleaning power of the hydrogen peroxide. It cleans tough and stuck on stains with no harm smells lingering. I would rate this A+ If you're interested in a product that has the Power to clean like bleach and is Free from the harshness like bleach, Lysol Power and Free is a must.

Let's Get Cooking --Homemade Jambalya

If you didn't already know, I'm a southern girl and I love to eat. lol I found this recipe on a website and of course made it my own. I took some things out added a few things but my kids LOVED it... And they are extremely picky eaters... Here are the instructions.

Ingredients:

1lb skinless, boneless chicken breast, cut into small pieces 

1lb of smocked sausage, sliced

1 can of diced tomatoes with juice

1 large onion, chopped

1 large green bell pepper, chopped

1 cup chopped celery

1 cup chicken broth

2 tsp dried oregano 

2 tsp dried parsley

2 tsp Cajun seasoning

1 tsp cayenne pepper

1/2 dried thyme 

1 cup rice

Instructions:

Place ALL ingredients except rice in slow cooker. Cook on low for 7-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

Cook rice according to instructions. Add rice, as desired, to each individual serving of Jambalya. Store rice separately from stew.

Sweet Treat -- Sweet Potato Custard

I had a taste for something sweet, as usual. I didn't want to go to the grocery store so I whipped up a few things I already had in the kitchen. It's a simple sweet potato custard. Here's the step by step instructions.

Crust:

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup chopped nuts (preferably pecans)

1/3 cup of flour

1/4 cup of butter (melted)

Filling:

3 cup mashed sweet potatoes

1 cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 cup cinnamon

1/3 cup nutmeg

2 eggs (well beaten)

1/2 cup butter (melted)

Instructions:

Preheat oven 350 degrees. Mix sweet potatoes, salt, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, eggs and butter in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly. Pour mixture in buttered baking pan. Combine brown sugar, chopped nuts, flour and butter in bowl. Sprinkle the surface of the sweet potato mixture evenly with the crust mixture. Bake for 30 minutes. Allow custard to cool for at least 20 minutes before serving.

BzzAgent.com -- Lysol Power & Free

Hello Bloggers, I recently signed up for BzzAgent.com. As soon as I created my profile, I instantly qualified to test the new Lysol Power and Free products. Skin & Facial Care -- Olay Fresh Effects Skincare Line Review

Today makes exactly a week since I made my purchase of the Olay Fresh Effects Exfoliating Cleanser and the Shine Minimizing Cleanser.  I've used both these products EVERYDAY for the last week along with the Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream.  If you haven't read my review of the BB Cream please take some time and check it out.

As I stated in my review of the BB Cream it left my face extremely oily and shiny.  

Honestly, I neither felt or saw a difference while using the Exfoliating Cleanser :-/ My face felt dry afterwards. Its a soft scrub with micro beads which suppose to leave your face fresh and healthy looking but my overall review would be do not waste your money.

Now as for the Shine Minimizing Cleanser, I was sold on the smell alone. LoL  It has a very fruity scent that smells amazing. The Shine Minimizing Cleanser cleans deep down to pores. It goes on thick like a mask but lathers and rinses like any other daily cleanser.  It's formulated with kaolin clay which means a little goes a long way.  I washed my face with this every morning then applied my Olay BB Cream, yes indeed it does minimize the shiny and oily look on my skin. I use this cleanser along with my BB Cream everyday now. I absolutely love it. I would rate this an A++

This is a picture of day 7 of using the Shine Minimizing Cleanser and BB Cream... I am wearing eye shadow, eyeliner and very little facial powder. My face is no longer oily or shiny. Great combination!!

Let's Get Cooking --Baked Beans

Since the 4th of July just passed.  I thought I would share how I prepare my baked beans.  Here's the recipe...

Ingredients:

2 cans Bush's Baked Beans (any flavor)

1 lb ground beef

2 cups brown sugar

1 cup Kraft's Honey Barbecue 

2 tbsp mustard 

1/4 cups butter

Directions:

Pre heat oven on 350.  In a skillet, cook ground beef thoroughly; set aside.  In a small pot, combine brown sugar, mustard and barbecue sauce; bring to a boil.  Pour beans and ground beef into an aluminum pan, stir in sauce. Add butter, baked in oven 15-20 mins on 350; let cool then serve.

If you would like to switch it up, you can add some chopped pre-cooked bacon.

Let's Get Cooking --Southern Pecan Cake Recipe

I'm not really a baker... Everything has to be PERFECT when it comes to baking. You can't be off and expect it to come out well... So I searched the web for a cake I couldn't mess up lol I found the pecan cake. I made a few changes to the recipe to suit my own purposes but it came out great. Here's the recipe...

Ingredients:

2 2/3 cups chopped pecans

1 1/4 cups butter (softened)

2 cups sugar

4 eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract 

3 cups flour (I used Swans Down)

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup milk 

Frosting:

1 cup butter (softened)

8 cups confectioners' sugar

1 can (5 oz) evaporated milk

2 tsp vanilla extract 

Directions:

Pre heat oven on 350 degrees.  Place pecans and 1/4 cup butter into heated oven for 20-25 mins or until toasted, stir frequently; set aside.  In large bowel, cream sugar and remaining butter until light and fluffy.  Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.  Stir in vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.  Stir in 1 1/3 cups of toasted pecans.

Pour into 3 greased and floured 9in baking pans. ( I used a bundt pan) Bake at 25-30 mins or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.  Cool for 10 mins before removing from pans to wire rack to cool completely.  

For frosting, cream butter and confectioners' sugar in large bowel.  Add milk and vanilla; beat until smooth.  Stir in remaining toasted pecans.  Spread frosting between layers and over top and sides of cake. 

Yields 12-16 servings

Make Me Over -- NYC Ultra Moist Lipwear (Lipsticks)

I was recently in Wal-Mart grocery shopping when I found myself down the make-up aisles.  I came up to the NYC section & saw these lipsticks for ONLY 0.93 cents... How could I pass those up?  NYC Ultra Moist Lipwear contains a built-in conditions which keeps lips moisturized and deeply nourished.  It glides on lips easily.  It also doesn't feather or bleed. It comes in 11 shades. It is also a matte lipstick.  I chose Ruby (305), Cafe' (301) and Petal (314).  Cafe' is the equivalent to a nude when applied. Price was NO problem, colors are amazing, lips stay moist, but color does not last. I had to keep re-applying. For that, I give it a B-

Sunkissed Vox Box --SinfulShine with Gel Tech Review

Have you ever want the gel nail look without paying the gel nail cost? Well, you can ...Sinful Colors presents SinfulShine with Gel Tech nail polish.  It comes in 32 different shades.  I had the pleasure of trying Spitefire which was complimentary of Influenster.  When I applied this polish I did not use a base nor top coat.  I wanted to see how the product would perform without assistance. This was the outcome. 

After 3 days, the shine begans to fade. I will be reviewing this product AGAIN using a base and top coat. My overall thoughts of this product, I'll give it a B-  Please stay tuned for the update.

If you've read my previous blog you know that I recieved these Goody Ouchless Ribbon Elastics complimentary of Influenster for testing purposes. So yes I put them to the test. 

 

These Ouchless Elastics are a soft, stretchy material that looks fashionable on your wrist & looks even more amazing in your hair. They are a unique knot style hair tie that works great with personalizing your look.

As it state on my blog, I am NATURAL. I have not put any type of chemicals (relaxers, texturizers, etc.) in almost 2 years. My hair is extremely THICK and hard to manage at times. After a wash and deep condition, I used the Goody Ribbon Elastics to part and separate my hair. Yes, they held well and did not get tangled in my hair. The Ouchless Ribbon Elastics in my opinion are more suitable for an age group YOUNGER than I am. I have a 2 year old and I began to use them on her hair. My daughter is also natural but she has more wavy and curly hair type. They worked PERFECT on her hair. I combed my daughter's hair and used the Goody Ouchless Ribbon Elastics and they held and looked amazing. I now use them on her hair and have been reusing them for a few weeks now. I think they look amazing on little girls hair. These are a MUST purchase if you're a mother with a little girl. I highly recommend you go out and much a pack or two.
